About the activity

At the start, all the lights in the town are off. In Who needs what? children hand workers their tools – bricks, a spirit level and a hammer for the builder, a stethoscope and a thermometer for the doctor (6 rounds). In Who works where? they take the workers to their buildings and then choose where to go when they need something – for example when they lose their puppy. In What can I hear? they listen to the sounds of work and guess who makes them, then tap out a rhythm. In What came first? they put the pictures of a story in order: first, next, last.

The game introduces 12 jobs: doctor, firefighter, baker, teacher, shop assistant, postman, farmer, builder, cook, hairdresser, police officer and bin collector. After each activity two buildings light up and their workers appear in front of them. When the whole town is lit, everyone meets in the square.

What children develop

How to use it in class
