About the activity

Children choose one of four games. In Hand washing they tap the pictures in the right order and rub the hands in circles while soaping. In What goes with what? they draw a line from each item to the picture it belongs to. In Where are the germs hiding? they move a magnifier to find germs, and in How many germs? they count them and pick the right number.

The activity shows children why we wash our hands and how to do it properly.

What children develop

  • the right steps for washing hands
  • hygiene habits and self-care
  • counting and matching quantities to numbers
  • fine motor skills when making circles and drawing lines

How to use it in class

  1. After the game, try the hand-washing steps at the sink with the children straight away.
  2. Children can look for germs with the magnifier in pairs: one searches, the other counts.
