About the activity

Children choose an exercise in the menu and draw a line with a finger from the green dot to the star. Tapping the sky makes snow fall; they steer a sledge down the hill, trace snowballs, build snowflakes from lines, trace the wind and the icicles under the roof, guide a skater along a figure of eight and finish the pattern on a scarf. The Show me button shows where the line goes.

The exercises work well as a short winter tracing session and as preparation for drawing and writing.

What children develop

  • pre-writing shapes: dot, line, arc, circle, figure of eight and pattern
  • smooth movement and a relaxed hand
  • hand-eye coordination
  • finishing a task from start to end

How to use it in class

  1. Before Skating Track, let the children draw a figure of eight in the air with the whole arm.
  2. Afterwards the children can draw the scarf pattern on a paper scarf.
